The Child Themer plugin essentially does two things. It helps you create your child theme and it provides a powerful editor to edit your child theme. That’s all it does. And does in an awesome way!

While Beaver Builder is our favorite theme to start with, Child Themer also supports these other themes:

Create The Child Theme

First off, creating your child theme. If you are developing and customizing WordPress sites, chances are you are running up against the need to create child themes. It’s the WordPress way of customizing a parent theme without compromising your ability to update that parent theme in the future.

With Child Themer, you simply enter a few pieces of information about your child theme and click create. Child Themer then creates a new child theme based on the active theme. If you already have an active child theme and want to make a clone of it, select the Clone the currently active Child Theme? option.

Edit The Child Theme

The editor included in Child Themer gives you the features of an offline editor, but in the back-end of your WordPress site. Line numbering, code lookup and syntax highlighting are included. There’s also plenty of templates available to mimic your favorite code editor.

When you save, Child Themer pre-checks your code and won’t save if doing so would cause a fatal error.

There’s also a front-end CSS editor included with a sweet little search feature. How many times have you scrolled huge CSS files looking for a certain class?

Adding Social Sharing icons and buttons to your website can be frustrating, with resource overload a top concern with many of the available plugins on the market. Introducing Sharebear by Mapsteps – a lightweight sharing plugin that you can use with Beaver Builder to style and place beautiful social network buttons anywhere you need them.

Sharebear has some neat styling options ranging from minimal to outlined, rounded, boxed, grey or branded coloured icons for Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn and Google+. Mapsteps plans to add more social networks in future updates.

You can add Sharebear’s social network buttons to the head and base of your content or in the sidebar or in all three locations at once. Using the provided shortcode, you can add social network icons to just about any position you like.

Neat Trick: Add the Sharebear shortcode to Beaver Builder’s Heading Module and place, align and colour the social network icons as you like.

Beaver Lister also hooks into the Beaver Builder templates list and highlights the templates being used on your site.

Created by Beaver World, Header Banner makes it easy to add hero banners,  sign up forms, announcements or any other type of customised layout to your pages by ‘injecting’ pre-made Beaver Builder templates before or after the Beaver Builder theme header.

Transparent Headers

Header Banner also makes it possible to turn your header transparent and adjusts the position of your banner to sit underneath the header. It also makes your nav links white. This allows you to create a striking above the fold introduction with a full height row with an image or video background.

In this example, we’ve taken our homepage and added a full height row with an image background and applied our intro text over the top. This works well for headers set inline with the logo in the Beaver Builder theme settings but if you place your navigation menu below the header the plugin won’t apply transparency to it. In this example, we’ve set our header to be Nav Centred + Inline Logo.

Header Banner includes a large selection of options for placing banners. Choose from individual banners through template hierarchies, post types and taxonomies. By allowing such granular control, you can create multiple banner designs and conditional display rules to show any number of different banner designs across your site.

If you are familiar with Genesis Extender, Beaver Extender works much the same way allowing you to delve deeper into the design of your Beaver Builder theme elements and layouts.

The Beaver Extender plugin allows you to ‘inject’ pre-designed HTML templates into areas of your layout that fall outside of the ‘normal’ Beaver Builder editable zones. By using Beaver Extender, you can design and display any type of element on your layout by using shortcodes and Beaver Builder hooks. Unlike other plugins that allow you to add templates into your layouts, Beaver Extender takes things further by allowing you to control the CSS, JavaScript and functions associated with the element. This allows for much more powerful customisation by enabling deeper integration with the full rendering of elements on your layout.

Once you have installed the plugin, a new admin sidebar item called ‘Reposition Sidebar’ will show up in your WordPress admin from where you can create individual ‘rulesets’ for your posts and pages.

Once you’ve created a new ruleset, Reposition Sidebar then allows you to tick individual pages, templates, post types, taxonomy archives, categories and tags to include in the rule. Anything you tick here will then be altered according to the sidebar preferences set in the General tab.

A super easy way to manipulate your Beaver Builder them sidebars.

The CSS Hero interface is activated on the front end of your site and once enabled, allows you to target elements on the page by hovering your mouse and clicking on them. Once you found the element you want to target, CSS Hero lists all the CSS values related to that element and you can then change the values in the control box to get the look you’re after. You can change colours, fonts, positions – anything that you would be able to change using manual CSS declarations, you’ll be able to change in CSS Hero. So if you want to target a single headline for more punch then you can do that by clicking on the single headline element. If you want to change all the headlines , you can do that too.

Once you’ve made a series of changes to your site, CSS Hero will save all the new CSS values in a file that you can also export if you prefer. You can even revert back using the history panel or reset elements to their default. CSS Hero also has a preview panel to let you see how your site will look across all devices and you can edit the CSS while in mobile or tablet mode as well.
